Dottie's Miniature Golf Course
Celebrating over 50 years of Miniature Golf!
Voted "Best of Utah" by S.L. CITY WEEKLY-- Utah's Independent Paper

If you are looking for a unique mini putting experience at an affordable price with a lot of nostalgia look no further than Dottie's! Dottie's is conveniently located at 1470 East and 33rd South in Salt Lake City on the north side of 33rd South just east of Highland Drive. An ideal and fun experience for families, teenagers (with or without dates) and grown-ups alike.

Dotties is probably the oldest surviving miniature golf course in Utah. It opened up around 1960 as the Arnold Palmer Miniature Golf Course. Apparently the original founder of this golf course was a gentleman named Vern Bodell. This was a thriving summer attraction during the 1960's and 1970's. Although the population has shifted toward the south and west part of the valley and this historic golf course lost some of its popularity (in the eyes of some) it continues to be a landmark and a very fun experience.

Starting off as the Arnold Palmer Mini Golf Course around 1960 this unique recreational spot has experienced a few name changes and several management changes over the years but has been called Dotties for nearly a decade now (subsequent to being acquired by Elwood and Dorothy Lunn). The name "Dottie" is a nickname for "Dorothy" the current longtime owner.

Due to the persistence of some very dedicated managers since the early 90's such as Jason Jackson, Ron and Mary Dixon, David Reid, Patty Hession and now Mickey Lunn (with tremendous dedication from Camile and Ryan) Dottie's has managed to survive.

Dottie's doesn't have all the fancy obstacles and high tech features of some of the more modern miniature golf courses. If it did it wouldn't be as uniquely fun. Most of the obstacles and features are the original 1960's artifacts which provides a trip down memory lane-- especially for those who grew up in this area and frequented the course during the 1960's and 1970's.

Dottie's is now being maintained on a relatively low budget combined with a whole lot of elbow grease. Therefore, the turf may be a bit rough in spots and some of the obstacles may be starting to look their age after nearly 50 years but even these imperfections add to the challenge and the nostalgia.

Being an outdoor course Dottie's is closed during the winter months and may also be closed during periods of inclimate or severe weather. But the course has been open fairly consistently lately in the early to mid evenings from late spring to fall when most people want to be miniature golfing outside.

We encourage you to support the wonderful and dedicated people who have helped to preserve this landmark by taking your family, birthday party, date or friends for a fun and affordable experience.
